20 Yard Dumpster Rental in Concord, CA
Short answer: a 20 yard roll-off costs $615 with 2 tons included, measures 16 by 7.5 by 4.5 feet and holds roughly 100 garbage bags or 6 pickup loads. It is the container BBP Dumpster delivers most often in Concord, and it fits a standard two-car driveway.
The 20 yard sits at the point where most projects stop needing a second haul. A three-bedroom cleanout, a gutted kitchen or a mid-size roof all finish inside one container, which is why it accounts for more of our deliveries than any other size. It is four feet longer than the 15 yard and two feet shorter than the 30 yard, on the same 7.5 foot width every container shares.
What 2 Tons Actually Covers
Two tons is 4,000 pounds, and household debris almost never reaches it. Furniture, boxes, clothing, carpet and cabinetry fill the walls first. The materials that do reach it are dense: drywall at roughly 500 pounds per pallet worth of scrap, plaster, ceramic tile and composition shingle at close to 250 pounds a square.
If your load is mostly one of those, say so when you book. We would rather move you to a 10 yard or quote the overage in advance than surprise you with $165 a ton after the scale ticket comes back. That rate is charged to the pound, never rounded up to the next full ton.
Placement and Driveway Fit
At 16 feet, a 20 yard takes about two thirds of a standard two-car driveway. The truck needs roughly 60 feet of straight approach and 22 feet of overhead clearance to raise the arm, which low branches and carports interrupt more often than homeowners expect.
The driver sets it level and, on request, lays boards under the rails. On stamped, sealed or newly poured concrete that request is worth making when you book rather than when the truck arrives. Placement on a public street generally requires an encroachment permit from your city, and the rules differ across the cities we deliver to.
When a Different Size Makes More Sense
Choose the 15 yard when the debris is heavy and the volume is small, since it costs $540 and occupies the same 12 foot footprint as the 10. Choose the 30 yard when the job produces bulk rather than weight, such as whole-house demolition or cabinetry pulled from several rooms at once, and the 40 yard when a second delivery would cost the crew a morning.
For clean dirt or concrete on their own, neither applies. Those go in the flat rate 10 yard, at $650 and $550 respectively, where nothing is weighed at all. Mixing other debris into that container converts it to a general load billed by weight.
The Swap Schedule for Longer Jobs
A kitchen remodel or a two-week build rarely fits inside one 20 yard, and rather than paying for extra capacity that sits half-full for days, most contractors book a swap: the full container is hauled, weighed and replaced with an empty one on the same trip, timed around whatever phase of the job is producing debris that week. Disposal from those swaps follows CalRecycle standards the same as any single haul.
Booking a 20 Yard
Call (925) 940-9906 before 2PM on a weekday and the container usually arrives the same afternoon. Rentals run from 1 to 21 days, with seven days as standard, and you receive a text when the driver sets it. See the full range on the dumpster sizes page compare it against the rest on the services page, or read about residential service if the job is a home cleanout.
