Dirt and Concrete Dumpster

A 10 yard container at a flat rate, $650 for clean dirt and $550 for concrete, with no weight limit at all. Nothing is placed on a scale, so a slab tear-out costs the same whether the concrete is four inches thick or six.

Flat Rate Against the Container It Replaces

Same steel box, different rules. This is what changes when the load is one material.

The practical difference: the standard 10 yard includes one ton and charges $165 for each ton past it, so a slab that comes in at three tons ends up near $795. The concrete flat rate for the same container is $550 with no ceiling, and the dirt flat rate is $650. The only condition either way is that nothing else goes in the container.

One material, and nothing else

Single-material loads go to a recycling facility rather than a landfill, which is what makes the flat rate possible. Anything mixed in sends the whole load somewhere else.

Accepted, on its own

  • Broken concrete, with or without rebar
  • Clean dirt and soil, dry
  • Brick, block and pavers
  • Asphalt in sections
  • Rock, gravel and stone
  • Concrete steps, curbs and footings
  • Mortar and grout debris

Turns it into a general load

  • Wood, framing or formwork
  • Drywall, plaster or insulation
  • Roots, sod and vegetation
  • Plastic, wrapping and packaging
  • Trash bags and household waste
  • Wet dirt, and any uncovered dirt load
  • Painted or coated concrete

How the rental runs

The same four steps, with one extra rule that decides the price.

1

Tell us the material

Dirt or concrete, and whether anything else is going in. That single answer decides which rate applies.

2

We deliver

Weekday calls before 2PM usually land the same afternoon. The container is 12 feet, so access is rarely a problem.

3

You load it

Fill it to the rail. Nothing is weighed, but the load must stay level so the driver can legally cover it.

4

We haul it

Straight to a recycling facility, where the material is crushed and reused rather than buried.

4.9 out of 5 from 54 Google reviews. Contractors book this one repeatedly, because the price on a slab job stops being a guess.

We did a big backyard clean-up and BBP Dumpster saved the day. We did a Dumpster rental and was delivered very timely. Communication is fast and efficient. They are very accommodating and polite. It was also picked up in a very clean manner and did extra service of making sure that the surrounding area was clean upon taking out the dumpster bin. We highly recommend BBP Dumpster.

Dirt and concrete FAQs

Prices, rules and why single-material loads work differently.

How much is a concrete dumpster in Concord?

$550 flat for clean concrete, with no weight limit. Clean dirt is $650. Both use a 10 yard container and include delivery, pickup and disposal. Nothing is weighed, so the price does not change with the thickness of the slab.

Why is dirt more expensive than concrete?

Because concrete is recycled and dirt usually is not. Broken concrete is crushed and sold as base rock, which offsets the tipping fee. Clean fill has fewer outlets and costs more to accept, which is the whole of the $100 difference between $550 and $650.

Can I mix concrete and dirt in the same container?

No, and mixing them cancels the flat rate. The two go to different facilities. A mixed load is charged as general debris by weight, which on a heavy load costs considerably more than either flat rate.

Is rebar allowed in a concrete load?

Yes, rebar inside the concrete is fine. Recycling facilities separate steel magnetically after crushing. Loose rebar on its own is a different material, so mention it when you book.

What counts as clean dirt?

Soil with no roots, sod, rock, trash or construction debris in it. It also has to be dry, since wet fill can weigh 20 to 30 percent more than the same volume dry and is refused at the gate. The load also has to be covered by the customer before pickup, or it cannot legally travel.

Why is the container only 10 yards?

Because weight, not volume, is the legal limit on these loads. A 10 yard box of concrete already approaches what a truck can legally carry. A larger container filled with the same material could not be hauled at all.

How much concrete fits in one container?

Roughly 250 to 300 square feet of a four inch slab. That is a typical single driveway or a medium patio. For anything larger we schedule a second container, or a swap on the same visit.

What if I have a small amount of wood mixed in?

Tell us before booking and we will price it as a general load instead. It is cheaper to know in advance than to have the load reclassified at the facility, which happens after the container has already left your site.

Dirt and Concrete Dumpster Rental in Concord, CA

Short answer: BBP Dumpster rents a flat rate 10 yard container for single-material loads, $550 for clean concrete and $650 for clean dirt, with no weight limit and no scale ticket. Delivery, pickup and recycling are included, in Concord and across the Bay Area.

Every other container we run is priced with a tonnage allowance because mixed debris is unpredictable. Dirt and concrete are the opposite: entirely predictable, extremely heavy, and accepted at recycling facilities rather than landfills. That combination is what makes a flat rate possible.

The practical result is that a slab job stops being a guess. On a standard 10 yard at $465, three tons of concrete would add $330 in overage. Here the same load is $550 and nothing is measured.

The One Rule That Matters

One material, and nothing else. Concrete with rebar still inside it is fine, since the steel is separated magnetically after crushing. A single sheet of plywood, a bag of household trash or the roots from a tree is not, because the facility that takes clean rubble will not take mixed debris.

When a load is reclassified at the gate it is billed as general debris by weight, and on material this dense that is always more expensive. If there is wood or vegetation in the pile, say so when you book and we will price it correctly the first time.

How Much Fits

Roughly 250 to 300 square feet of a four inch slab, which covers a typical single driveway or a medium patio. By weight that is close to 7,500 pounds of concrete, since a four inch slab runs about 50 pounds per square foot. Excavation fill works out similarly by volume. The container is deliberately small: at roughly 4,000 pounds per cubic yard, a 10 yard box of concrete already approaches the 10 ton legal limit for the truck, and no larger container could be hauled full.

How Concrete Actually Gets Recycled

Clean concrete goes to a crushing facility rather than a landfill, where it is broken down into aggregate that gets reused in new construction, mostly as road base and fill material. That end use is the entire economic reason a facility will take it for a flat rate instead of charging by the ton: crushed concrete has resale value, while general debris only has a disposal cost.

Dirt Has Extra Conditions

Clean fill means soil with no roots, sod, rock or debris, and it has to be dry. Wet dirt is refused at the facility, and every dirt load must be covered by the customer before pickup, because uncovered soil cannot legally travel on the road. Those two conditions are the most common reason a dirt container gets delayed.

For mixed demolition where concrete is only part of the job, the 20 yard or 30 yard is the right container instead. On large demolition where concrete is only part of the debris, the 40 yard carries the rest. See the full range on the dumpster sizes page, browse the services page, or read about construction service. Statewide recycling rules come from CalRecycle.
