Construction dumpster loaded with demolition debris in Concord, CA

Sorting the load is where the money is

On a job site the container choice is a cost decision, not a convenience one.

Roll-off container on a construction site in the Bay Area

Mixed construction debris is billed by weight, with a tonnage allowance inside the flat price and $165 per ton beyond it. Single-material loads are different: clean concrete and clean dirt go to a recycling facility instead of a landfill, and they are priced flat with no weight limit at all.

That difference is worth real money on a demolition job. Three tons of concrete in a general container adds $330 in overage. The same load in the flat rate container is $550 and nothing is weighed. Separating at the source, when it is possible, is the single biggest lever on disposal cost.

  • Framing lumber, sheathing and formwork
  • Drywall, plaster and insulation
  • Demolition debris from interior tear-outs
  • Roofing tear-off, priced by the square
  • Concrete, brick and block, kept separate
  • Clean fill and excavation soil, kept dry
  • Cabinetry, millwork and fixtures
  • Site cleanup and packaging waste

Full specifications for each container, with weight allowances and access requirements: 10 yard, 15 yard, 20 yard, 30 yard, 40 yard, Dirt or concrete.

For concrete, dirt and asphalt on their own, none of these is the right container. Those go in the flat rate 10 yard, at $550 and $650, where nothing is weighed. Mixing other debris into that container converts it to a general load billed by weight.

What goes in, and what never does

Site debris is accepted broadly. What is refused is refused at the facility gate, which means a return trip billed to the job.

  • Roofing shingles and underlayment
  • Cabinetry, doors, windows and trim

How it works

Four steps, and on running jobs the fourth repeats on a swap schedule.

1

Book the container

Give us the phase and the access. On a site we ask about the approach before quoting.

2

We deliver

Same afternoon on weekday calls before 2PM. The driver places it where the crew can reach it.

3

The crew loads

Seven days standard, longer on request. Load level with the rail so it can be tarped legally.

4

We swap or haul

Call and we pull the full one and drop an empty on the same visit, so nobody stands around.

First time dealing with BBP Dumpster rentals and was completely pleased with the company and their professionalism and the communication they kept with me. The skill that the truck driver displayed while making our delivery to our driveway during early morning traffic was impressive. We were cleaning out a rental unit and from now on this is the company I’ll be using.

Construction dumpster FAQs

Pricing, swaps, sorting and access, answered with the numbers.

How much is a construction dumpster in Concord?

From $465, with the disposal weight included in the flat price. A 20 yard is $615 with 2 tons, a 30 yard is $765 with 3 tons and a 40 yard is $900 with 4 tons. Past the allowance the rate is $165 per ton from the scale ticket.

Can I put concrete in a construction dumpster?

Yes, but not economically. Concrete in a mixed container is billed by weight and three tons adds $330 in overage. On its own it goes in the flat rate 10 yard at $550 with no weight limit, which is almost always cheaper.

Do you do container swaps?

Yes, on the same visit. We pull the full container and set an empty one before leaving, so the crew keeps working. Swaps are scheduled when you call rather than on a fixed route day.

What size for a whole-house demolition?

A 30 yard for most, a 40 yard when access allows. Demolition is a volume problem: framing and cabinetry fill space fast and weigh little. The 40 needs 20 feet of straight ground, which is the usual constraint on residential lots.

How much does a square of shingle weigh?

Close to 250 pounds. Thirty squares is nearly four tons, which is a full 40 yard allowance carried in a fraction of its volume. On roofing jobs we size by squares rather than by cubic yards.

Do you deliver to active job sites?

Yes, and we confirm access before dispatching. A truck needs roughly 60 feet of straight approach and 22 feet of overhead. Telling us about gates, slopes and overhead lines when booking avoids a wasted trip billed to the job.

Can I keep it for a month?

Rentals run 1 to 21 days, and longer jobs use swaps instead. On a multi-week build, swapping containers usually costs less than holding one for the whole period.

Do you provide disposal documentation?

Yes, the scale ticket comes with the invoice. Every load goes to a licensed facility, sorted by material, which matters when a project requires diversion records.

Construction Dumpster Rental in Concord, CA

Short answer: construction dumpster rental in Concord starts at $465 with the disposal weight included, and swaps are arranged on the same visit. Clean concrete and dirt go in a flat rate 10 yard at $550 and $650 with no weight limit, which is the cheapest way to move dense debris.

A job site produces two kinds of debris and they should not share a container. Mixed material is priced with a tonnage allowance because it is unpredictable. Concrete, dirt and asphalt are entirely predictable, extremely heavy, and accepted at recycling facilities, which is why they carry a flat rate instead.

Where Overage Charges Come From

Drywall, plaster, tile and shingle are the four materials that break a tonnage allowance. A square of composition shingle runs close to 250 pounds, so thirty squares is nearly four tons on its own. Tell us the phase and the material when you book and we will size for it, or quote the overage in advance rather than after the scale.

Framing, cabinetry, packaging and insulation do the opposite. They fill a 30 yard or 40 yard by volume with the allowance barely touched, which is exactly what those containers exist for.

Swaps Keep the Crew Working

On a running site the container is rented on a swap schedule rather than a single haul. You call, we pull the full one and drop an empty on the same visit. The cost of a crew waiting is higher per hour than any difference between container sizes, which is the practical argument for sizing up rather than down on a build.

Coordinating With the Site, Not Just the Job

A general contractor juggling several trades on one schedule usually cares more about the container disappearing on cue than about the size printed on the invoice. Booking the swap a day ahead of the actual need, rather than calling the morning the container fills, is the single change that keeps a job site from losing an afternoon to a truck that could not get there in time.

Access Before Price

We ask about the approach, gate width and overhead before dispatching, because a truck that cannot place the container still costs a trip. Roughly 60 feet of straight ground and 22 feet of height is the requirement, and a 40 yard needs 20 of those feet for the container alone.

See the range on the dumpster sizes page, the coverage map on areas we serve, or call (925) 940-9906. Statewide disposal standards come from CalRecycle.

What we confirm before dispatch

  1. The materialSorting concrete out of the load is usually the cheapest decision on the job.
  2. The accessGate width, approach and overhead, so the truck does not arrive and turn around.
  3. The swap planOn a running build the second container is scheduled before you need it.
