Mixed construction debris is billed by weight, with a tonnage allowance inside the flat price and $165 per ton beyond it. Single-material loads are different: clean concrete and clean dirt go to a recycling facility instead of a landfill, and they are priced flat with no weight limit at all.
That difference is worth real money on a demolition job. Three tons of concrete in a general container adds $330 in overage. The same load in the flat rate container is $550 and nothing is weighed. Separating at the source, when it is possible, is the single biggest lever on disposal cost.
